Camping Honeymoon... Yeah, Right

Some brides won`t share their Prince Charming with anyone...let alone creepy critters and crawlies at a campsite, but what about those gung-ho brides who like the idea of camping with cupid?

Camping? On honeymoon? What`s romantic about that? If you are of the traditional mindset that a honeymoon should be spent lazing in five-star luxury, with your every whim catered for, then the thought of bushwhacking and eating cold baked-beans out of a tin won`t appeal to you. But if you are of the `Lose-myself-in-the-bush-for-a-fortnight-with-no-clean-towels-or-running-water` variety, then this kind of honeymoon is just the thing for you!

Let`s assume that you`re a happy camper - literally and figuratively - and you`re looking to go a-camping for your honeymoon.

First suggestion: bounce the idea off your significant other before you go to all the effort and expense of planning the whole thing. Second suggestion: have Plan B on ice, just in case your idea is met with shrieks of hysterical laughter.

Sometimes you will find that you may have to negotiate the honeymoon destination, especially if it`s one like camping. Here are a few `selling points` to bear in mind:
You get to commune with nature in a breathtaking setting, accompanied by your true love. You aren`t hindered by room service, housekeeping or itineraries, which makes for the ultimate in relaxation.

Each night you get to fall asleep under an inky canopy of stars.
There are no phones, faxes, e-mails, TV`s or radio`s to interrupt your romantic celebration. You are able to get to know each other better.

Best of all: life can get really interesting in a two-person sleeping bag!
Camping is definitely a cost-effective way to escape, and every camper has their favourite campsites off the beaten track - if you are an ardent camper, you will know of a few places to pitch your tent.

The key here is to pack light; take plenty of insect repellent, fresh water and food with you to last for the duration of your stay. Don`t forget the essentials, like toilet paper, a can opener, matches, sunscreen (if you go in summer) and...the tent. Also, to add that touch of magic, pack a couple of unexpected treats like a host of candles, chocolate body paint, a lacy number (for her) or a leopard print thong (for him) - try to keep to the whole nature theme...

Lastly, all we can do is wish you good weather, happy camping and a honeymoon to remember.
